Chapter 1 - Know Your Computer

Machine is a man-made thing. It makes our work Easier and Faster.
A Computer is an electronic machine. It helps to write, draw and learn.
Natural things are made by Nature.
Examples of Man Made Things are Computer, TV, Music Player and AC.
Examples of Natural Things are Sun, Moon, Stars, Rivers and Mountains.

1.  Name two things that a computer helps us to do.
    It is used to draw and color picture, to play games, to listen to music   etc.
2.  Name four machines that you see at your home.
    A television, Refrigerator, Mobile Phone and washing machine.



 Chapter 2 – Parts of a Computer

A computer has four main parts: Monitor, CPU, Keyboard and Mouse.
A monitor looks like a TV screen. It shows alphabet, numbers and pictures.
CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the brain of a computer.
Keyboard helps you to type.
Keyboard has small buttons called Keys.
Mouse helps us to point things on the computer screen.
Monitor looks like a TV screen. It is used to point things on a computer.
1.  Which part of a computer looks like TV?

    CPU .
3.  Which part of a computer helps you to type?
    Keyboard.

Chapter 3 – Keyboard

Alphabet keys are used to type letters. There are 26 alphabet Keys.
Number keys are used to type numbers. There are 10 number Keys.
Spacebar is used to insert blank pace(s).It is the Longest Key on the Keyboard.
Enter Key is used to move to next line.
Caps Lock Key is used to type in capital letters.
Backspace key is used to erase the previous character.

Chapter 4 – Computer Mouse

The mouse should be kept on a mouse pad.
The mouse has two buttons and a scrolling wheel in the center.
You must hold the mouse in a right way.
The mouse pointer moves in the same direction as the mouse.
Left Click: When you press left button, it is called left click.
Right Click: When you press right button it is called right click.
Double Click: When the left mouse button is pressed twice, it is called double click.
Mouse Pad is a rubber pad, on which the mouse is kept.
Mouse Pointer is the arrow that you see on the monitor.

    The arrow on the computer monitor is called the mouse pointer.

    Right click and Left Click.

Chapter 5 – Uses of Computers

A computer helps us to do the following,
1. Learn
2. Write
3. Draw
4. Play games
5. Watch cartoons and movies
6. Listen to music

A computer is used at many places,

2. Home
3. Shop
4. Railway station
5. Airport
6. Bank

Bank: A place where your money is kept safe.
Airport: A place from where airplanes fly and land.

Computer Etiquette

Always keep your hands clean. Dirty hands will make the computer dirty.
Do not touch the wires of a computer.
When you are asked to go to the computer lab, always move in a queue.
Take off your shoes when you enter the computer lab.
Always press the keys of the keyboard gently.
Always place the mouse on a mouse pad.
Hold the mouse properly.
Always ask your teacher or elder before working on the computer.
Share the computer with your friends.
Do not fight.
